April 1, 1958 the school was finally taken over by the newly formed North Eastern Frontier Railway. The first Controlling Officer was Mr. J.P. Lahiri, Deputy Chief Engineer, N.F Railway and Mr. Sudhangshu Sekhar Adhikary, Senior Accounts Officer, N.F Railway was the Secretary (for list of Controlling Officers Click here).
In the year 1959, Mr. Narendra Chandra Deb, took over as Headmaster and he was succeeded by Mr. Anil Kumar Mitra (1960 - 1964), Mr. Jasoda Lal Goswami (1964-1971), Mr. Dharma Narayan Roy (1971-1973) and (1978-1982), Mr. Kamal Kumar Mukherjee (1973-1978) (for list of Headmasters click here).
It was the enormous contribution of Mr J.P Lahiri, probably glamorous journey of the school was initiated during sixties and had the momentum till early nineties. It was his personal initiation, relentless effort blended with indefatigable attitude, due to which the new school building was constructed and the school was finally shifted to its present location adjacent to Central Hospital, N F Railway, Maligaon with a huge playground and land for future expansion.
The new school building was formally inaugurated by Mr. B. C. Ganguly, the then General Manager, N. F Railway. The then Headmaster, Mr. Anil Kumar Mitra, who had equally contributed with his unfathomable prophetic knowledge for the well being of our Alma Matter, the Netaji Vidyapith Railways High School, Maligaon.
Since sixties, almost every year the students secured a or two place among the first ten rank holders in Matriculation Examination under The Gauhati University and then High School Leaving Certificate Examination under The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) with quite a good numbers of students every year being selected for the award of prestigious National Scholarship.
These galaxies of students are disbursing their responsibility in various organizations in various capacities with pride, dedication and integrity not only in India but also in the other countries across the globe. They are common in one, they are NVPIANS.
